Blackjack
Blackjack is a casino game played on a table with playing areas called boxes. It is one of the few games where the player makes a decision that can change the outcome of the hand depending on what they do. Many believe they have more chance at winning at this game because they get to make decisions. Like a real casino, WIld Diamonds Fun Casino uses 8 decks of cards. If you have been to any of the Australian casinos such as Jupiters Casino on the Gold Coast or Treasury Casino in Brisbane, then you are most likely familiar with the basic rules of Blackjack as we play them. Our games use the standard Blackjack rules without all the minor variations and jackpots.
Number of Players:
There are 9 player boxes and up to 2 players can backbet on each box for a total of up to 27 players.
In a real casino there are only 7 boxes, but we want more people to have fun at once. 9 boxes does not change the way the game is played.
Objective:
Try to keep below twenty one and beat the dealer.
Place your bets in the Blackjack betting areas (also called boxes). If other boxes are free a player can bet in more than one box. Players can “backbet” by putting their chips in the box of another player. The backbets must go behind the front players bet and the front player has control of all decisions for that hand.
Your Options/Decisions:
If your first 2 cards are 8 or less, the dealer will automatically deal you a 3rd card. Once your card total reaches 12 or higher, you will be asked if you want a card or to stay.
If your first 2 cards total 12 or more you will be asked if you want a card or stay.
Double: If your first 2 cards total 9, 10 or 11 you will be given the option to double or draw. If you double, you must match your original bet, but only one card is given and it is placed sideways to signify no more cards for that hand.
Split: If your first 2 cards are a pair (any picture or 10 is classed as a pair) you will be given the option to split. You must place an equal amount to your original bet next to the box, which will now give you two separate hands in the same box. There is a maximum of 3 hands in any one box. Players can also double on these split hands if the total of the first 2 cards equals 9, 10 or 11.
Blackjack: If your first 2 cards are an ace and any 10 or picture card, congratulations you have a Blackjack which is the objective of the game. In a regular casino you are paid 1.5 to 1 in our fun casino you are paid 2 to 1. If you split aces and get any 10 or picture card in one of those hands, it is not a Blackjack but a total of 21 (still good).
Please note that if a front player decides to split or double, the back bets do not have to, the dealer will move the bet in a split to the first hand. The back bets cannot split or double if the front player does not want to.
Hand Signals:
Because there is often background noise, it is the general rule within all casino’s in Australia (and probably all over the world) that players use “hand signals” on Blackjack to indicate to the dealer their intentions. The main player in the box (front player) is the only player that the dealer will take signals from.
If you want to stay you wave your hand behind the box.
If you want a card you tap the table behind the box.
If you want to double you place the same amount as the original bet to the side of your original bet in the box.
If you want to split a pair, you place the same amount as the original bet on next to your original bet.
Summary:
The player gets dealt two cards to start with, the dealer gets one. Add your cards up – and decide whether you think what you have will be good enough to beat the dealer.
The dealer draws last and must continue to draw until he holds a minimum total of 17. Do you take another card or do you stand? The choice is yours, just don’t bust!
If you win you get paid even money (Blackjack pays 1.5-1), If the dealers card total is higher than yours you lose your bet.
Blackjack is one of the most popular casino games because players get to make the decisions and feel they have more control.
Blackjack also offers the skillful payer the best percentage return.
Hint:
if you want to increase your chances of winning play to a system called “basic strategy”. It is a system of playing consistently and to some specific rules depending on what the dealers fist card is.
